Meet the Talent Behind Quest For Success
Topic: Blog Tours

I want to take time today to introduce you to those who have contributed to Quest For Success.  I think you will agree with me that these are "the best of the best" in their chosen life paths!!

Byron Katie is the creator of The Work, a system she invented to teach people how to end their own suffering. As she guides people through a unique process of inquiry, they find that their stressful beliefs—about life, other people, or themselves— radically shift their lives. Based on her own life experience of how suffering is created and ended, The Work is an astonishingly simple process, accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, and requires nothing more than a pen and paper and an open mind. Through this process, anyone can learn to trace unhappiness to its source and eliminate it.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is both the head of state and the spiritual leader of Tibet. In 1989 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. He has consistently advocated policies of non-violence, even in the face of extreme aggression. He has traveled to more than 62 countries meeting with presidents, prime ministers and crowned rulers of major nations. Since 1959 His Holiness has received over 84 awards, honorary doctorates, prizes, etc., in recognition of his message of peace, non-violence, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion. He has also authored more than 72 books. He describes himself as “a simple Buddhist monk”.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu is a South African cleric and activist who rose to worldwide fame during the 1980s as an opponent of apartheid. Tutu was elected and ordained the first black South African Anglican Archbishop. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 , the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism, and the Magubela prize for liberty in 1986. In February 2007 he was awarded the Gandhi Peace Prize. He was generally credited with coining the term “Rainbow Nation” as a metaphor for post-apartheid South Africa. The expression has since entered mainstream consciousness to describe South Africa's ethnic diversity.

Harv Eker, using the principles he teaches, went from zero to millionaire in only two and a half years by combining a unique brand of “street-smarts” with heart. His high-energy, cut-to-the-chase style keeps his audiences spellbound. He is the author of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind and SpeedWealth. During his years of struggle, Harv vowed that he would help others become rich as well. As the founder and president of Peak Potentials Training Inc., he has touched the lives of over 250,000 people, helping them move closer to their goal of true financial freedom.
Jack Canfield is the originator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, which fostered the emergence of inspirational anthologies as a genre, rapidly growing to a billion dollar market. As the driving force behind the development and delivery of over 100 million books sold, Jack Canfield is uniquely qualified to talk about success. Behind the empire Time magazine called the "publishing phenomenon of the decade" he is the leading expert in creating peak performance for entrepreneurs and leaders.

John Assaraf as a teenager risked the consequences of a turbulent lifestyle that could have easily led to jail or to the morgue. In his quest to overcome his challenges and fulfill his desire to live a purposeful and meaningful life, he discovered a unique passion for brain research and quantum physics as they relate to achieving success in business and life. Today John shares that passion with audiences worldwide. John is also one of the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management's Distinguished Thought Leaders. In the last 20 years, John has built four multi-million dollar companies
Marci Shimoff is the woman's face of the biggest self-help book phenomenon in history, Chicken Soup for the Soul. Her six bestselling titles in the series, including Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul and Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul, have met with stunning success, selling more than 13 million copies worldwide. Marci is one of the bestselling female nonfiction authors of all time. Her breakthrough methods for personal fulfillment and professional success are summed up in her own bestseller Happy for No Reason
Sir Richard Branson is best known for his Virgin brand of over 360 companies. In 1972, he opened a chain of record stores, Virgin Records. With his flamboyant and competitive style, Branson's Virgin brand grew rapidly during the 1980s, as he set up Virgin Atlantic Airways. An inveterate adventurer, his current passions include Virgin Mobile and the upcoming Virgin Galactic. Sir Richard is a noted philanthropist and member of the Clinton Global Initiative, who has devoted billions of dollars to reviving the ecology.
Russell Simmons has been instrumental in bringing hip-hop to every facet of business and media since its inception in the late 1970s: in music with the co-founding of the immensely successful original Def Jam Recordings; in the fashion industry with the trail-blazing Phat Farm, Baby Phat, and Run Athletics clothing lines; in film with Simmons Lathan Media Group; in television with HBO's "The Def Comedy Jam" and "Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry"; on Broadway with the Tony Award winning stage production "Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam on Broadway". Russell Simmons spends considerable energy working for social, political, and philanthropic causes, pushing hip-hop on to new plateaus of power and relevance
Stephen Covey is recognized as one of Time magazine's 25 most influential Americans, who has dedicated his life to demonstrating how every person can truly control their destiny with profound, yet straightforward guidance. As an internationally respected leadership authority, family expert, teacher, organizational consultant, and author, his advice has given insight to millions. He has sold over 20 million books including his phenomenally popular 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which was named the #1 most influential business book of the last century
]Wayne Muller is the founder of Bread for the Journey, is an ordained minister, therapist, and author. A graduate of Harvard Divinity School, he has spent the last 25 years working closely with some of the most disadvantaged members of society. He is the founder of the Institute for Engaged Spirituality, a senior scholar with the Fetzer Institute, and extended faculty of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Wayne is the author of the national best seller Sabbath and How, Then, Shall We Live

Quest For Success--Creating The Life You Deserve
Topic: Blog Tours

Press Release

Happy, Wealthy and Wise

Today’s most influential thinkers, inspiring teachers and visionaries present powerful insights to achieving authentic success, which has become the defining spiritual quest of our time.

Sam Keen, Jack Canfield, Marci Shimoff, Harv Eker, Byron Katie, Sir John Templeton, Richard Carlson, Hale Dwoskin, John Assaraf, Janet Attwood, Hari Nam Singh Khalsa, and Gabrielle Roth.

Everyone has a dream. Everyone has a Quest. This feature length film takes you on an incredible journey to discover the secrets to living a life filled with passion, excitement, joy and financial freedom. Not a phony quick-fix solution, but a way to actually seize your someday today.

Everyone wants to know the secret, to put their finger on the magic button in their search for wealth, happiness and a deeply meaningful purpose-driven life. Ideally, all would delight in an open-sesame to riches and overnight fame. Well you can’t get any more direct than this.

Quest: Happy, Wealthy & Wise is fresh. It’s provocative. It’s a sexy meeting of philosophy, open minds, dramatic vignettes, and incredibly effective life-altering techniques and practices.
Experience a whole new frontier open before your eyes, filled with new possibilities and watch your life change inexorably for the better!

Award winning filmmaker, Lili Fournier, is credited with leading the way in pioneering spiritual programming on the airwaves across North America. This is her 12th Quest special, and her best work to date.

Your step-by-step daily guide to the spiritual power secrets to help you achieve happiness and extraordinary success.

You’ll learn
• the simple yet incredibly effective steps to building your house of happiness,
• how to create personal wealth,
• how to use powerful personal change techniques like The Work by Byron Katie,
• and the Sedona Method with Hale Dwoskin.

And so it is that we set off in life on a Quest to fulfill our desires, to find the spark that makes us feel vibrantly alive. Desire, after all, is the motivating force and generating power of all human action. Virtually all the great things ever accomplished in the world were done by men and women who were dreamers who made their dreams come true. Just like our experts have done.

What if there is no secret, no seven steps to follow? What if we are okay just the way we are, that we simply need to release the things that are holding us back from living in joy and happiness right now?

No matter what you’re calling in life, wealth, essentially, is what you’re after. The question then is how do you define real wealth? As one of our experts put it, “Most people think wealth is just money. And money is a wonderful thing, but the real goal is to have the full plume of your human imagination 360 degrees. Be family rich, be socially rich, be spiritually rich, be financially rich, and be emotionally rich.”

Embark on a Quest, and turn your dreams into reality.

Today, email marketing expert, Winton Churchill, shares some advice for business authors.  Much of this can be adapted to other areas of writing.  Enoy the advice!

3 Strategies Business Authors Can Use To Cut Through
The Clutter In These Turbulent Economic Times

The Chinese symbol for "crisis" is the combination of 2 meaning "danger" and the other meaning "opportunity."

Hard economic times, especially as severe as we are experiencing right now, create disorientation in the minds of your audience, clients and readers.

As a non-fiction author, whatever advice you've dispensed through your writing, as successful as it has been, is all subject to review in light of these new realities.

With the bottom falling out of the financial markets, gas at unprecedented highs and inflation rearing its head, everything you have written or said needs to be re-thought in light of these changes. It is important for you to answer the question, "Given what has happened, what would your advice be now?"

It is actually a great time to build your list and your following by providing perspective and recommendations for your readers, prospective book purchasers, prospective clients, etc.

The Approach

One approach I like and am recommending to our clients is the "7 Critical Mistakes..." format.

The strategy goes something like this:

1.      Create a report on the 7 critical mistakes people in your target audience are likely to make as they adjust to the new economic realities AND how they can avoid making those mistakes. (I usually recommend that you dictate this and get it transcribed to make it conversational and fast. Use a service like if you don't have time to edit the transcription into its final form.)

2.      Prepare an article highlighting 2-3 of those mistakes with a mention in the resource box at the bottom that readers can get the entire report on your site. Include a link to a squeeze page.

3.      Prepare a press release announcing the availability of the report and send that out through a service like Include the link to your squeeze page in the release along with your photograph (this will raise your visibility).

Some people in your audience are traumatized by these current events...others are, at a minimum seriously concerned about their personal finances. This is not a time to be flip...but frank is fact even preferred!

You can "tell it like it is!" more than you might in calmer times.  Your readers will appreciate your unvarnished insight.  When they watch politicians, spokespeople or newscasters they get such a sanitized, politically correct version of events that it is often hard for them to get a clear picture of what is unfolding.

Speed Counts...

In this day and age, a crisis can pass quickly (this one may not) but it is important that you move quickly on this or much of your impact will be diluted. Your audience is trying to make sense of current events today and the more you can help them with that, the more appreciative they are of your insights.

Trockle Wants You to Win!!!
Topic: Book Review
Not long ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Trockle, the little monster that lives under Steven's bed.  This is Trockle:

I had the chance to read Trockle's story, written by Holly Jahangiri. Here is the wonderful cover, created by Jordan Vinyard (she does all the illustrations for the book):

Trockle is a book I wish had been around when my son was younger.  I tried monster stay-away, songs, funny stories, music--but the monsters came back night after night.  This book, written in a fresh style shows how much Trockle and Steven are alike.  Knowing that the monsters living under the bed like Choco-Tacos and sleep in dirty socks is sure to make even the most nervous child and fall asleep unafraid.

Holly Jahangiri writes with a true understanding of what children can relate to.  Her wonderful imagination brings to life one of the most precious monsters I have ever known.  Ms. Vinyard does an excellent job bringing Trockle to life in pictures.  These two women have a way of bringing out the best in each other.  I look forward to more of their work.

For anyone with children or grandchildren, this is a must-have addition to your bedtime story collection.  It is destined to become a classic among children's picture books.

This fine-looking monstress (is that a word?)to the left is Trockle's mom.  She is the one who helped Trockle understand who the monster above his bed was so he could feel safe.  She wanted me to let you know about some free gifts you can get by simply leaving Trockle or her a question in the comment section.  She also wants me to announce a contest, so here goes:

Everyone who leaves a question or comment for Trockle or his mom (and an email address) will receive both a book of pumpkin-carving templates and a book of Halloween coloring sheets to print out.

In addition, here is a contest you won't want to miss:

Grand Prize: A customized Halloween short story featuring your child (or grandchild, niece, nephew, or friend) with Trockle - written by Holly Jahangiri and illustrated by Jordan Vinyard.

Second Prize:

Vern For President--The Best Candidate
Topic: Character Interviews

Hey, Vern, I hear you are running for President!! Okay, so you aren't (so you say!) but....

1.  What platform are you not running on?

"Leave me alone" works for me, but for some reason, people think that makes me Libertarian.

2.  If you happen to win this position you're not running for, what would you like to see happen for dragons everywhere?

Riotous laughter? Hiding their heads in shame? Traditionally, dragons take a more advisory role. I'd prefer it stay that way. I'd also prefer to charge hefty fees for my advice. Take a note, guys.

3.  Vern, would you be willing to tell me what you think of your who are running?

They're only human. What more is there to say?

4.  If you were running (I know, I know, you say you aren't) but if you were...what would you like to tell the voters?

Make a responsible and moral choice-and while you're at it, live responsible and moral lives. Makes running a country easier.

5.  President Vern...I like the sound of that...are you absolutely sure you aren't running?  I bet you have plans on what you would like the world to be like...can you share some of those thoughts??

Edible. And interesting. Of course, most of the world is like that for me already. I would mind it a little less annoying-and better paying for annoyances I have to deal with.

Grace, however wants me to add something more applicable to you humans, so:

--People wouldn't depend on government programs to care for the poor-those with means would do it themselves.  Those with the means to work would work, regardless of how demeaning they think the job is, and get paid enough to eat and have a decent place to live, though not necessarily a car, cable, cell phone, Wii, and all the things you Mundanes think are "necessary."

--Kids would work hard for their grades and get the grades they deserve.

--People would obey laws and accept their punishment if they didn't.

It comes down to personal responsibility, and you can only legislate that so much.

Oh, and everyone would realize that no matter what color your skin is, what accent you speak with, where you or your ancestors come from, on the inside, you're all just meat. Think about that the next time you want to annoy me.

Psst....if I tell everyone to vote for you, will you insist they buy a copy of Storm when you win???

My ethics committee (snicker) says I can't do that, but I can put a plug for it here:  "Life isn't about surviving the storm, but learning to dance in the rain" Let Storm teach you to dance in the rain!

Now, if I don't run, will you promise to tell everyone to buy a copy of "Magic, Mensa and Mayhem" when it comes out in February?

Most certainly, Vern!!!  I've read parts of it and am looking forward to the rest--it is a fun book :-)  Folks, stop by and read some more about Vern!!!

Don't forget--everyone leaving a comment gets a book of pumpkin-carving patterns and a chance to win a book of Halloween recipes and crafts!

A place for people in the writing industry to gather and share experiences, tips and advice. Not to mention promote their latest work and discuss various topics related to the writing industry. Included in this blog you will also find; links to sites for writers, competitions and contests, interviews, writer and book event listings and more...

Why ‘relaunch'?

My baby son was born in December 2007 after a difficult pregnancy, so I've been away for a while. Having to spend 8 months on bed rest meant I had a lot of time on my hands, which I used to work on my various writing related projects. The Writers and Authors site was a big success and my plan is to make it even better now I'm back online. To make sure everyone gets the chance to take part and see the great opportunities on the site I thought it was a good idea to have a big relaunch party to celebrate and spread the word.

What changes have been made to the site?

The new format will be as follows:

Mondays: Opportunities for writers. This will include paying markets, competitions, online courses etc...

Tuesdays: Featured Authors. This  will include author interviews and samples of their writing.

Wednesdays: Publishers, editors, etc... This section will include interviews with publishers, editors, etc... and explain how the industry works and give helpful advice on the more technical aspects of the writing industry e.g. what they look for, how to query, etc...

Thursdays: Book reviews. This will include reviews about any type of book. I'm particularly looking for reviews about self help for writers books (and related) but will also post reviews about fiction, poetry and basically anything else.

Fridays: Upcoming events. This section will include dates and details about conferences and other events for writers online. Also author chats online, virtual tours etc...

How can people get involved?

For those of you interested in being interviewed for the 'Featured Author' section please send me an email ( giving some details about yourself and your writing. Please also include your website address.
The same applies for publishers, editors, etc...

As you can see, I also want to include a section with book reviews. You are welcome to review any type of book (e.g. self help for writers or a fiction or poetry book). In fact I'll be all the happier to have a good mix. If your new to writing reviews and want some pointers check out for some tips. Please send your review in the body of the email to with 'Book Review' in the subject line.

How can people support Writers and Authors?

Nominations (e.g. Writers Digest 101 best sites- any others are good too J), blog postings, interviews, putting a link on their sites, spreading the word to others.

Tell us about the Virtual Tour?

To relaunch this site in it's new format I'm organising a virtual tour starting from October 1st 2008. Anyone who is interested in hosting me for an interview or featuring the Writers and Authors website on theirs, please send me an email to the new address with virtual tour in the subject line. I will post a copy of the Virtual Tour calendar soon so you can keep track of the events.

Folks, don't forget that every commet gets you 12 pages of pumpkin-carving templates and an entry in the drawing for a Halloween craft and recipe book!
